Susan Lucci has been hired as the host of a new reality series that will explore -- what else? -- love triangles gone wrong. The new show, called Deadly Affairs, will launch in the fall on the Investigation Discovery channel.

Nick Santino, a struggling actor with connections to two daytime drama series, took his own life last week after putting his dog to sleep. Neighbors and friends say Santino was bullied into putting the healthy dog down.

Things in Port Charles may soon get a little crazy -- not that there's anything wrong with that. A General Hospital spokesperson confirms that Robin Mattson will reprise the role of Heather Webber this spring. Mattson has appeared on All My Children, As the World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, and Santa Barbara.

Susan Lucci is headed back to ABC, but it won't be during the daytime hours and it won't be as Erica Kane. Lucci has landed a co-starring role in a primetime pilot being developed by Marc Cherry, the creator of Desperate Housewives.

Eva LaRue may be headed back to ABC this fall, and if she is, she'll be trading in the high drama of soap opera for the funnier side of a situation comedy. LaRue is best known to daytime audiences as Maria Santos on All My Children.
JR Martinez

All My Children's JR Martinez will soon be the proud dad of a baby girl. AMC's former executive producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers, hosted a baby shower for Martinez and his girlfriend, Diana Gonzalez-Jones. Their baby is due in May.
Finola Hughes
April 2011
Finola Hughes' Anna Devane will be staying put in Port Charles for a while. Hughes, who returned to the show in February, has signed a contract with GH. Hughes originated the role of Anna in 1985, but also took the role to All My Children.
Mark Consuelos

Mark Consuelos will guest on the April 11 episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and we've got exclusive video of Mark talking about his role.
Jeff Branson

Jeff Branson will reprise the role of Ronan Malloy on The Young and the Restless next month. The Emmy winner previously appeared on All My Children and Guiding Light, the latter earning him a Daytime Emmy win. Branson first appeared on Y&R in 2010.

Another Days of our Lives newcomer will exit the canvas this summer. Soap vet Ian Buchanan, who has played Ian since February, will be written out of the shown Buchanan has also appeared on All My Children, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and Port Charles.

A third leading lady has been cut from The Young and the Restless this week. Emmy winner Debbi Morgan has announced that she will tape her final Y&R scenes next month. Morgan joined the show in 2011 after the conclusion of All My Children.

Emmy winner Heather Tom and husband James have added a "plus one" to their family. The couple welcomed their first child, Zane Alexander, on October 28. Tom has appeared on One Life to Live, All My Children, and The Young and the Restless, in addition to The Bold and the Beautiful.

Emmy-winning All My Children alum Josh Duhamel may be headed back to ABC -- and so might All My Children. Sort of. Duhamel has sold a pilot that tells the story of what happens behind the scenes of a soap opera when rumors of its cancellation start to surface.

Mark Pinter will join the cast of The Young and the Restless in January as a politician involved with two of Y&R's best-known characters. Pinter has had roles on five other soaps, including his breakout role as Grant on Another World.

In what may be seen by some as a Christmas miracle and by others as a resurfacing of the Grinch, plans to move All My Children and One Life to Live to the Internet are apparently back on. Prospect Park, which licensed the two soaps from ABC, is again reviving plans to move the soaps online.

As the final hours of 2012 tick down, 2013 may, for the first time in nearly a decade, see an increase in the number of soap operas being produced. Prospect Park continues to move forward with its plans to reboot All My Children and One Life to Live.

Emmy winner Vincent Irizarry reports that he's signed on to appear in Prospect Park's planned Internet relaunch of All My Children. The actor notes that the reboot isn't yet a done deal, but urged fans to continue their support of the show.
